senior postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and an honorary fellow at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Mark Bennett is a senior postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and an honorary fellow at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on developing and applying cutting-edge bioinformatic methods to analyse large genetic datasets in order to identify and understand genetic causes of epilepsy.

Mark is part of a multi-disciplinary epilepsy research team aiming to improve genetic diagnoses for developmental and epileptic encephalopathies and contributes to several international epilepsy consortia. He has been involved in the discovery of seven new genes associated with epilepsy and related neurological disorders. He has developed a number of bioinformatic methods, which are used by many research groups internationally and have played a role in important discoveries across a range of diseases, including autism and cancer.
