Portrait of Maddison Smith

Maddison Smith

Maddison Smith is currently a PhD student and Research Assistant in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales. She graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours in 2023 and has since worked as a Research Officer at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. Maddison is passionate about communicating how psychology and mental health should be embedded in clinical care across the healthcare system for both patients and families. The focus of her PhD is on how to support the psychosocial wellbeing of siblings of patients with rare epilepsy conditions.

Maddison will introduce her research on supporting siblings of individuals with rare, genetic epilepsy conditions. This includes a new, online program called SIBS-ONLINE, and future opportunities to be involved in the development of support resources. You can find more information about SIBS-ONLINE here: https://www.unsw.edu.au/research/behavioural-sciences-unit/research/mental-health-and-relationships/sibs-online
